death for ordinary rythu bazars and vegetable markets, (as) the entire trade of vegetables, fruits and meat will come under the control of corporates like Metro, Heritage, Reliance or Al Kabeer once the massive terminal market complexes (TMCs) being proposed come into existence in the state.

The corporate setting up the TMCs will (INVEST) Rs 150 crore towards this business, the state government will have a 26 per cent stake (for) 50 acres to 200 acres of land. The private enterprise (PE) will own the remaining portion of the business.

The state government is constructing these massive modern whosesale markets in Hyderabad, Guntur, Vizag and Tirupati, ostensibly to help the farmers. The farmers will directly sell the produce to the TMC, thereby cutting out middlemen. Another advantage is a cleaner, modern bazar with facilities like warehousing, cold storage, ripening chambers, cleaning, grading and processing along with extension of advisory service to farmers.

However, prices will be fixed by the corporate. (with) retail prices of vegetables likely to go up for the consumer. The question is would it benefit the farmers or the company which will gain control over the entire vegetable business of the state.

Corporations will decide which pesticide, what seeds, what prices, what items we eat. Who do you think will benefit? Not me, I know! (Cartoonist - Joe Mohr; cartoon courtesy - http://ecopolitology.org.). Click for larger image.

The TMC will control the production and collection of vegetables from the farmers over certain radius, “While it is not mandatory for the farmer to sell his produce to the TMC, the private operator will offer him a higher price as well as induce them with loans for procurement for seeds. This in the end will make the farmer a captive seller to the TMC and for the retail consumer, the prices of vegetables, fruits and meat will become costlier,” said the sources. Ignorant bureaucrats

Kasargod in Kerala is in the grip of a strange malady. Deformed children.

The Plantation Corporation of Kerala (PCK) has been cultivating cashew in 4500 hectares spread across this district. Since the early 1980s the PCK has been aerially spraying an organochlorine pesticide called endosulfan that has been banned in many countries including Singapore, Denmark, Germany, Holland and Sweden. Over the last several months, various reports in the media as well as studies done by institutions like the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi have indicated a strong link between the aerial spraying of endosulfan and the number of deaths and illnesses in the area. Corporate executives will soon dictate to us. They will buy Government's silence. (Cartoonist - Clay Bennet; cartoon courtesy - http://www.ritholtz.com). Click for larger image.

We have seen stories on how swine flu started in La Gloria, a little town in Mexico, at the one of Mexico’s biggest hog factories, owned by the world’s largest pig processor, Smithfield Foods. The world diabetes epidemic by industrial and junk food is become an old story.

And now this

AP Government wants to handover vegetable trade to highest bidder. Some 50-150 acres of land is proposed to be given these companies. These corporations will be able to raise all that money for investment just by p-ledging the land that the Government is handing over to them.

These private monopolies will have monopoly over agricultural output in their designated areas. Producers will given the choice of selling at any mandi to that monopoly buyer. All the ryuthu bazaars will close. The nearly 10,000 vegetable vendors who serve Hyderabad’s 10 lakh (1 million) households can buy from the one monopoly buyer. Another 10,000 eating houses will have the choice of one vendor.

India has indeed becoming a ‘free’ country.

manmohan singh at puttaparti buridi baba’s birthday celebrations. any comments on that. i hope u know that puttaparti baba is a fraud. and somewhere there are links between him and charles leadbeater. after all theosophy’s headkuarters were in tirupati not far away from anantapur where puttaparti is

    November 29, 2010 at 5:13 am

by the way all fraud babas that are plague ing the country are from andhra and rayalaseema region. no babas in telangana.
kalki bhagawan and puttaparti and bala sai baba of kurnool.
fraud babas is andhra culture. poor andhras dont know whom to trust.

i even heard that puttaparti baba was influential in merging the two states of telanagana(hyderabad state) and andhra state.
he was very influential with then telangana chief minister burugla ramakrishna rao(a brahmin i mention this because .shouldnt brahmins who know the shastras be better able to tell a fraud baba from a real one.) but he was a devotee of saibaba.
puttaparti baba also tried to stop telangana sentiment by saying bifurcation of state is sin sometime few years ago after ys ragasekhar reddy persuaded him to do that. but we telanganites simply burnt effigies of puttaparti baba. since then he thought it better to remain silent on the issue.

i will give u some info on ap politics. but i think u know more than me. i am just a young new guy to all this.

in ap many tv channels are owned by political parties.
    news channels
    1. sakshi channel and sakshi newspaper
owned by ys rajasekhar reddy and his son ys jagan mohan reddy
both of whom are christians and his son in law is an evangelist a brahmin convert.
2.’studio n’ is the channel that favours telugu desam party
this was arranged by a marriage between hero grandson of nt rama rao junior nt rama rao and the daughter(underage so only engagement announced.) of the ceo of the channel.
    3. ntv belongs to a land grabber. irony is that he also owns bhakti channel and mahila channel. bhakti channel telecasts high kuality programs. really great.
    4. tv 5 andhra channel that supports anyone who pays it money. it supports ys jagan. he paid it huge money
    5. tv 9. it supports anyone who pays it money. but tries to do good in its own way.
    6. z 24 gantalu. owned by zee . this channel sort of gives unbiased.
    7. maha tv. the owner is a secret. channel gives almost unbiased.
    8. andhrajyoti abn is owned by telangana guy vemuri who also owns adhrajyoti paper. this guy is good guy. this channel dared to expose governor tiwari sex scandal.
    9. hmtv is very socially responsible channel which has set a trend of responsible media in andhra pradesh.
    10. raj news is telangana channel . completely pro trs. recently started. it gives some nice space to urdu items. we have to rely heavily on raj news. because someitmes even meetings of telangana where 10 lakh people came are not telecasted on andhra channels.

in ap the media is very strong.
they got some good things going on.
but they do conspire with politicians sometimes. but try to be powerful themselves
overall ap media is million times better than national media in everyway
they are so much faster and so competitive and they give us even world conspiracies.
they told us that swineflu could be fraud and that 911 could be an inside job. which national level channels have never done.
they tell us that obama’s visit is selfish and so on. and also they got some relevant discussions going on on the maoist situation unlike national media. they present both sides of the story.

telangana is the region through which godavari river flows through andhra pradesh. also krishna river flows through mahaboobnagar district of telangana. we dont like it when national media refers to us as t rather than telangana. especially when this is a self respect movement.
mahabubnagar is also called paalamuru. and this is where all the labour of the gulf countries comes from. telangana is building gulf countries. many tens of thousands of young men migrate as labour to gulf countries and other parts of india.

When I was growing up, my friend’s father was one of the guys who dealt with farm products coming into Pune. He said, that only six families in Pune were “allowed” in these transactions. Farmers were not “allowed” to by pass these families.

I never understood – what this “allowed” meant… was it laws? was it threats? was it simply a stranglehold over retail? don’t know… but all I know is that oligopolies dominated my little part of the world when I was growing up.

I assume other parts of India were no different.

So now – instead of “six” families – we would have “six” or “four” or “one” corporate dominating farm products.

OK… the pyramid is growing… anything else?

Democracy, in its current form, is a huge oligopoly. If one desires to be a “player”, then one needs to pay the price to play. All the Nira Radia tapes, 2G scandal, Adarsh scandal, IPL are a good example of the oligopolic nature of the polity.

  9. December 4, 2010 at 3:16 pm

Democracy, in its current form, is a huge oligopoly

Democracy, in all its forms’ will always be a collusive oligopoly, as 2ndlook has pointed out. Bharattantra is the only system that can stop this from happening. This post is only pointing out the degree and direction.

i forgot to mention about etv 2. which is owned by ramoji rao.
etv 2 supports telugu desam party. ramoji rao also own ramoji film city. he own eenadu paper. and vishalandhra publications.
this channel was the second news channel in ap. first was tv 9.

and i will tell more about ap.
major leaders of maoists are from ap.
in ap. during the british. there was this tribal rebellion known as second rampa rebellion during 1920s or 1930s. this was headed by one alluri sri rama raju. this was near vishakapatnam. which is in coastal andhra.

in ap there are following regions.
    telangana made up of
    adilabad, ……
ok i may have to write a blog about all this. it will take too much time and writing space.

telangana rebellion was something that happened before police action in hyderabad state. the maoist movement has its roots in
telangana rebellion. telangana rebellion succesfully defeated nizam of hyderabad.
september 17 1948(or 1947 correct me) known as hyderabad liberation day. telangana rebellion is famous in russia. and has a monument of komaram bhim a warrior of the rebellion. but in telangana region most people never heard of the rebellion. it was not promoted by the government.t hey wanted us to forget about it. only after the telangana movement started in nov 2009 that everyone in telangana now knows about it. we were not allowed even to celebrate hyderabad liberation day in telangana while it is celebrated in karnataka . some parts of karnataka were also part of hyderabad state.

andhra pradesh used to be very stronghold for communist party. vijayawada is considered the center. vijayawada is in andhra region not telangana. vijayawada had once sent money to cuba so that they could get medicine , etc. vijayawada is the center of publication in andhra pradesh. andhra region has many cities. telangana has no cities except for hyderabad.
in andhra there is vishakapatnam, guntur, vijayawada, kadapa.
kadapa was developed by rajasekhar reddy. his own district it is.

some say that andhra pradesh is supposed to be trilinga desha.
the trilingas are supposed to be srisailam in kurnool(rayalaseema) dist.
kaleswaram in adilabad(telangana), draksharamam (east godavari, andhra region).
    the significant thing is that.
all major temples and piligrimage spots are in andhra region.
    telangana temples are ignored.
we got bhadrachalam temple of rama on the banks of godavari
    in rayalaseema there
    is tirupati, kalahasti, srisailam
in andhra there is annavaram, indrakeeladri. and let me see where is that ahobilam i think in rayalaseema. thats aplace where there are volcanos and its supposed to be where narsimha avatar killed hiranya kashyap. that pillar exists there. still. the people in that region chenchus have their own story about narsimha swamy.

i have to tell u about loksatta. loksatta is a political party started by ex ias officer jai prakash narayan. this party is influenced by radical democracy of mn roy. (yes the mn roy. manabendranath roy that womaniser, loafer, idiot , traitor. fickle minded fool , admirer of bagha jatin, who established communist party in india and asked communists to infilitrate congress, admired by nehru)

  17. samadhyayi
    December 5, 2010 at 6:07 am

mn roy is the rallying point of all atheists in india. it is ironic that mn roy’s idea of the ideal person (perfect man) was bagha jatin the disciple of swami vivekananda, leader of the indian freedom movement, so swami vivekananda’s (the rallying point of all god believers)disciple is the ideal of the leader of atheists.

telangana rebellion was something that happened before police action in hyderabad state. the maoist movement has its roots in telangana rebellion

Someone ( a family friend actually) I met a few days ago in Hyderabad, was the courier for funds from ‘sources’ (probably Congress) to the Communists via some of Nizam’s bureaucrats. So, clearly, the Telangana /Peasants Revolt /Communist insurgency of the 1930-1940 in Nizam’s territory was funded by ‘external’ agencies. That was one very interesting conversation, that I had.

yes. telangana rebellion was supported from outside. so was the nizam. stalin himself had called shots in the rebellion.
and one of the leaders was from andhra region. his name was suddala hanamantu i think. a great poet. his son is also a poet. suddala ashok teja. writes soul stirring lyrics. u should hear sometime. do u know of the writer gopichand. who was first an atheist but later was influenced by aurobindo or/and others.
he later testified that indian thinking was whole. western thinking is part. his son saichand starred in the sole movie made on telangana rebellion “maa bhoomi”. its an important movie. must watch. it was directed by a bengali.

i have to inform u about some things that happened in andhra pradesh.
it is known as Sompeta incident. this is extremely important.
sompeta is in vishakapatnam. in that place the govt was going to build some factory. it was not good for the locals. so environment groups and local people did nirahara deeksha. but police who had good practise beating telangana students came and started shooting and beating people in hundreds. yes it was all live telecasted on tv. if media was not there. they would have done worse things. but they are not afraidof media. thepolice did many bad things. in osmania university one police man burnt a vehicle and then started urinating on it. it was caught on camera. they had gone to girls rooms. and removed their zips and said do u want telangana. here is telangana.

i want to know how the rest of india perceives telangana movement. as far as i have seen on national channels and national news papers. it has got a lot of bad media. blatant lies. one day i saw police evicting people in osmania unversity live on local channels. i then changed to ndtv. i saw that the ndtv reporter was wantedly trying to avoid those scenes on osmania university. she was there in the same place. we could see her on local tv channels. she was completely misrepresenting hte situation there. it was really disgusting.
if they are going to do this. then if we cant express ourselves. then all that suppressed energy is going to explode in some violent way. until now it is being expressed in the form of suicides. so far 500 suicides. genuine. more than that of kashmir. but no media speaks of them at national level. it was unprecedented show of commitment for soemthing. ironically the same arguments that the media is making for people of kashmir . it is using against telangana. if police beat telangana students it is ok. but if they beat kashmiris. that is against democracy.

  27. samadhyayi
    December 9, 2010 at 3:31 pm

telangana movement has done something significant in shifting the power in politics. in the beginning when there was not much hope for congress. ys raghasekhar reddy did this padayatra that made him win in andhrapradesh. that was what made congress govt to form govt at the center. but ragaskehare reddy is very powerful . he did unprecedented level of corruption by making new govt schemes, jalayagnam and arogya sri and etc. this arogyasri is one of the worst things. because it increased power of govt. which will make it opossible for big brother govts to come in future. the data collected thru arogyasri is now being used forthe unikue identification program. somehow nobodyis talking much about it. it was mentioned once or twice in the newspapers. then hsssh. nobody is talking about this unikue identification program. ok. this ys got more than lakh crores. making him the most richest man in india . he won elections second time.t his time. he was going for master plan. unbelievable master plan. where he was going to collectland from farmers to make huge govt owned farms. which was unbelievable. anyone who knows about big brother govts will be crying out loud. that the end has come. but thankfully he died. either he was killed or he died due to god’s grace. ys rajasekhar reddy was a christian . he had even visited pope. i think. but i am not sure. due to him the whole tirupati hill became populated with christian churches. and lots of conversions. now after his death his son wanted to become chief minister. but center didn not want a strong deputy to them. they want more power so they didnot want a strong cm but a puppet who listens to them. so theyd idn t give him chance. he did so many things to become cm. he could have succeeded . had it not been for telangana movement. because in telangana it is percieved that ysjagan is a villain against telangana formation. so when he tried to organise meeting in telangana. people stoned him. thats it his repuation was totally broken. the center knew that he was not powerful enough. so they suppressed him. but he quit congress finally. and now congress in ap may split. if it splits then in telangana not one seat will be won by congress again. it is all trs or some new party . trs leader kcr risked his life. but he is having to fight uphill battle for last one year to seize power. congress made agreement with him on that telangana annoucnement day that if he joins congress they will give telangana. for which he agreed.b ut congress politicians from andhra region would rather die than let the state be divided. because they wouldlose all their illegal posessions in hyderabad. which is now the biggest city in india. so they started artificial agitaions in andhra region. and threatened the cneter itself. so we have sort of stalemate here in andhra pradesh. but soon if telangana is not formed . there will be assasinations. that is my calculation.

  28. samadhyayi
    December 9, 2010 at 3:40 pm

at this moment.kcr is the most popular leader in telangana. and no other single person wields such widespread popularity as him in the other regions. chiranjeevi has been banished fro telangana. his party is completely lost cadre. no karyakartas. totally people quit his party. he is now limited only to andhra region and rayalseema. it was his own doing. he is now hated by many in telangana.

when any single party gets too much majority. there is chance for them to exploit their position. so we got new poltiical parties springing up in telangana which could give trs some good competition. but congress is definitely gone from telangana. there is good chance that it wont win even a single seat. i mean it
